The Power And The Glory and Travels With My Aunt by Graham Greene
The discussion of Graham Greene’s two books centred on Greene’s ability to develop characters, that they are so real, as one member said she would want to shake their hands. The main focus of the discussion was Greene’s own spiritual journey and how he used his characters to reflect the journey of life. It brought to mind the quote of John Milton’s – “The mind is its own place, and in itself can make a Heaven of Hell, a Hell of Heaven”. His Travel with My Aunt was fast and amusing even with its extreme characters in improbable situations.
